Looking for a vocalremover.org alternative?
Here’s how the two compare.

If you’re weighing up a vocalremover.org alternative, start with the job in front of you: a karaoke track, a clean vocal or four stems for a remix.

Both sites separate songs, and both have a four-stem splitter. The differences that matter are in how you listen to the parts, adjust them and get them into whatever you’re doing next.

Vocals and musicThe Remover page describes two tracks: a karaoke version without vocals and an acapella version. The vocal remover gives you Vocals and Music tracks with their own faders, an Original button to compare, a mix download and both tracks as WAVs.
Four stemsSplitter AI separates vocals, bass, drums and other instruments, with volume adjustment for each. The Stem splitter puts vocals, drums, bass and other in a four-track mixer with mute, solo and volume on each. You hear the first minute without a plan. A Day Pass or Pro splits the whole song and lets you download your mix, any single stem or all four WAVs.
Other audio toolsThe site navigation includes Pitcher, Key BPM Finder, Cutter and Joiner.Separate pitch, BPM and key, cutting and joining tools, all working on files you’ve saved.

Make a track in Mirinex

  1. Open your song. Select Choose a file in the vocal remover and wait for the separation to finish.
  2. Pick what you want to hear. Select Music for the backing, Vocals for the singer, or Both to set the balance with the two faders.
  3. Check it against the original. Press Play and listen to a verse, a chorus and a quiet passage. Turn on Original to hear the source, then turn it off to get back to your mix.
  4. Download what you need. From an audio file, Download mix saves a WAV and Download both tracks saves the vocals and music separately in a ZIP.

Two tracks or four?

For a karaoke track with a faint guide vocal, the vocal remover’s two-track mix is all you need: just pull the Vocals fader down. For a remix, or a cover where you need the drums, bass and the rest on separate tracks, use the Stem splitter, set a rough balance in its mixer and take the downloaded files into your editor.

Both sites let you adjust the level of each of the four stems in the browser, and vocalremover.org describes how on its Splitter AI page. So the choice comes down to what you’ll do after the split, and which result sounds better on your song.

Test both on the same song

Run the same recording through both and listen at the same volume. Focus on the singer’s entrance, any long held notes and the busiest chorus, because those are where differences are easiest to hear. Judge by the bits you’ll actually use, then keep your chosen file next to the original so later edits start from the right version.
